Admission Procedure

Admission to our school is the responsibility of Gloucestershire Local Authority.

Admission is based on the needs of the individual child and may take place at any point in the year, depending on whether a school place is available.

Pre-school places to support the assessment process of a child aged 3-5 are discussed and decided by the Local Authority’s multi-agency Special Needs Resource Panel which meets fortnightly.

All other pupils should have a Statement or an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) to support the request for a Special School place. It is possible to request admission in advance of the completion of an EHCP, especially where this may assist in determining the level of support required.

Applications for admission to the FE department will be considered in line with all other applications for post 16 placements.

All referrals for the placement of children and young people with a statement or EHCP are discussed and decided by the Local Authority’s multi-agency Special Needs Resource Group and the views of all relevant professionals working with the child are sought in support of this process.

It is important that prospective parents are able to evaluate all of the options that are available for children and young people who have a Statement of SEN or EHCP before agreeing to the placement of their child within an educational setting. In keeping with this belief, the head teacher welcomes informal visits by parents so please feel free to telephone and make an appointment with no obligation.
